A New Home for
Kansas Delta

OUR CHALLENGE :

While our Sigma Phi Epsilon experience is certainly more than the “bricks and mortar” of the chapter house, our fraternity home has undoubtedly played a significant role as a living and learning center, and is a visible symbol of our shared values, goals, and brotherhood.

If we plan to continue providing a beneficial educational experience for young men in this century, a major investment in an updated living facility is necessary.  An assessment of the needs and desires of today’s undergraduates was conducted with the following results:

SAFETY

Our current house on 17th St. was built in 1968.  The electrical system cannot meet the current needs for computers, printers, TVs, stereos and more.  Plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems are also inadequate, while the lack of fire sprinklers presents an expensive code violation that must be resolved.  Additionally, the home’s windows, roof and parking lot are nearing the end of their life cycles. TECHNOLOGY

Computers are indispensable in today’s education system.  Having a computer room and a house with full Internet capability is essential to providing the living situation our undergraduates need and deserve.

VALUE

Today, students and their parents expect more for their housing dollars.  Topeka offers an increasing number of apartment complexes with covered parking, pools, and fitness rooms, and even though our programs are second-to-none, we must offer a safe, attractive facility in order to be competitive with other fraternities at Washburn.

OUR SOLUTION:

We will be able to solve these challenges and more by renovating and relocating to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority house.  By embarking on a campaign to raise $900,000, we can ensure that our new home will not only be ADA-compliant, but will also offer the safety, technology and value that will complement the Sigma Phi Epsilon experience.

Imagine: a home, a base, a place where ideas are explored and discussions focus on opportunities.  By doing your part for the campaign, you can provide this at Washburn, substantially impacting the next generation of Sigma Phi Epsilon men.
