A former Chapter President and Rush Chairman, Greg was a respected leader in all aspects of Kansas Delta.  Greg died from cancer in December 1978.  The annual Alumni-Active softball tournament, which was first held in 1977, was renamed in his honor.

Designed as a perpetual scholarship, the Gregory K. Hawkins Scholarship Fund has helped Kansas Deltans with college expenses since 1979.  The scholarship endowment is held by the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation.  According to Foundation guidelines, chapters have access to 6% of the fund's December 31 market value available for qualified scholarship and leadership programs.

The 30th Annual Gregory K. Hawkins Memorial Softball Tournament and Alumni Weekend will be held April 18-19, 2008.
